When in your dashboard navigate to “Appearance”, then “Menu”.
Once you are the menu page you want to make sure you are about to adjust the correct menu. As a default you will have 2 “menus”, “Primary” and “Secondary”. The primary menu is the main menu and the one you will need to edit for a new “style” to show up in the “shop” category of the drop down menu. Unless you change this setting, it should always default to the primary menu. Once you have verified that you are about to adjust the correct menu, look down the page for “Product Categories” and click it.
You will see three tabs at the top of the section that opens, “Most Used”, “View All” and “Search”. Click the “View All” tab and locate the style bag you added to the shop. Check it and then click “add to menu”. After clicking “add to menu” your style will show up at the very bottom of the menu page. Scroll down to see it. **if you have not added this style, or forgot to create the category for it when adding the style, it will not show here. In that case, go back to the product and + Add New Category**
Because you want your styles to show up in the correct spot on the navigation menu, you will need to drag this new style up and below the shop section. Hover over it with your mouse cursor, click and hold, then drag it to where you would like it to be in the shop. For this example it is going under the “Ellie” style. Placement is very important. Think of it like index tables, or numbered lists.
- New for 2015
- Style 1
- Style 2
- style 2A – This placement would be wrong, unless you want sub styles of Style 2.
- Style 3
- Style 4
If you place it like this below, vs the placement above. It will look like this on the shop navigation instead of the correct way.
After you have placed it correctly hit “Save Menu”. Then go to the main page and see if your new style is in the shop drop down.
